Overheard in Las Vegas

October 10th, 2006 by Dave

I don’t know if I’ll make this a regular feature, but this sound bite was just so incredible, I couldn’t pass it up:

One young female, walking down the stairs at Lied Library at UNLV, chatting animatedly on her cell phone, completely oblivious to her surroundings:
“So my Daddy wanted to give me money to gamble, but I was, like, I wanted to buy a Mercedes with it instead, so he said no way.”

This is absolutely true–I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. I wonder if “Daddy” is looking for anyone to stake in the World Series of Poker.
