I’ve been Blogged

June 5th, 2008 by Dave

There’s a site called blogged.com whose purpose is to help people find blogs they like. Through a process that’s entirely a mystery to me, they have reviewed this humble electronic notebook and concluded that it is “great:”

The Die is Cast at Blogged

Right now, I’m ranked #48 in the “Recreation and Games” category, right below Paintball Guns and just above Garthmeister J.’s Disco Finery.
According to the editors, they “evaluated your blog based on the following criteria: Frequency of Updates, Relevance of Content, Site Design, and Writing Style.”

If you want to further the Die is Cast cause, go ahead and add a review to the Blogged page.

Now, if I wanted to REALLY boost my rating, I could hire a slick marketing company to astroturf the site with poorly-written, borderline-moronic “reviews.” But since I’m not trying to get people to $21 for kung pao chicken, I probably don’t have to.

I like the blogs that the “Related Blogs” found but they barely overlap with anything dieiscast.com discusses.

None of the blogs were anything like dieiscast or two way hard three, which would be one of the most closely “related” blogs. None of the other blogs that most “Vegas” people like that are usually mentioned at Vegastripping or FivehundyByMidnight.

So dieiscast is getting related to other “gaming” only blogs like “Poker Lab Rat”, Sport Betting News, Game Cheat Hacks and Algorithm Betting.

Yeah, I was thinking about asking to be put into another category, but I couldn’t think of anything appropriate. It’s kind of hard to explain to people what the site’s about: it’s not really about gambling itself. It’s just about the stuff I see and read which, because of my job, has to do mostly with gambling. I’d definitely put it with VT or 2WH3 before anything else.

I like writing here because it gives me an outlet for stuff that I think other people would be interested in, but that I couldn’t publish elsewhere. The Aria article, for example, wouldn’t have worked in the Business Press, because with my word limit there I can get about one idea across at a time.

I’m just happy that people enjoy reading what I think about what’s going on in the Las Vegas/gambling biz, and they tolerate my tangential ramblings into what my neighbors leave out on trash day and what not. This blog is actually pretty close to my lecture style, now that I think about it: I’ll cover all the serious material, but throw in some things I just think are funny to keep people amused.
