More small-town fun

This stuff just writes itself. The Atlantic City one-week smoking ban-ban, which I derided as a hallmark of small-town politics, is going to get longer–because a councilman is on vacation. From the http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/186/story/284950.html:

A City Council member's vacation cruise will extend a casino smoking ban for an extra five days to at least 12 days.

Councilman’s vacation cruise means Atlantic City casino smoking ban gets a little longer.

I don’t have anything more to say here. I’ll just let that sentence speak for itself.

You’d think that in this day and age of non-stop instant mobile connectivity that they could get the guy on the phone to say one syllable – yea or nay.

I see this as a possibility for to create and instant cliche – something which describes a lesser degree of participation than “phoning it in.”

“Sorry folks, we can’t vote because John is”:

    a) ‘on the boat’
    b) ‘in cogspeedo’
    c) ‘covered in cocoa butter’
    d) ‘at Margaritaville’
