The casinos on the Strip were off slightly from the previous year's gaming revenues while the "local" casinos were off a lot more. This trend will probably continue with unemployment in the state of Nevada close to 14 percent. People who live in Las Vegas don't have as much discretionary income anymore to spend gambling so the two main local casino operators (Station Casinos and Boyd gaming) will continue have a hard time making money.

This blog made me wonder which months are usually Best for the gaming industry and which are the Worst (in good times or bad).

I'd imagine that December is a slow month. At least it always has been for Vegas cab drivers, since lots of shows close and employess take vacations..., tourists are burnt-out from Thanksgiving and need to prepare for Christmas (tourism is usually down, since few people want to tell their friends they're going to Sin City during the 'Holy Month', etc).

Things sure pick up after December 26 at around 1:00 am, when the LA crowd starts driving in and the New Years' people start arriving.

Just for fun...I'm going to make a guess-timate on which months traditionally get the most gaming revenue:

1- Jan
2- Feb
3- March
4- Nov
5- Sept
6- May
7- Oct
8- April
9- August
10-July
11-June
12-Dec
