Will Winslow

In addition to writing fine books and articles on gambling history, opinion, and current issues, Dr. Schwartz has penned a guide to Las Vegas under the pen name Will Winslow.

Why the pen name? Because Schwartz has already published "serious" work extensively under his own name and wants to distinguish this casual guide from that work.

Schwartz has reportedly also written a book-length guide to making money in casinos under the Winslow name, but has not yet published anything fitting this description.

This is a look at Las Vegas from a different perspective. The short (20 page) pdf download has five "top eleven" lists with some of Las Vegas's best kept secrets, including must-see spots, historically significant points, good restaurants, and construction sites. It even includes a list of eleven tips for Vegas visitors. It is a funny, smart addition to your online research into what to do once you're in Vegas.

7. Sam’s Town Free Show

Anyone can take pleasure in the Bellagio’s fountains dancing in sync with classic favorites or recent hits.  But you’ve got to have a special mindset to appreciate the charm of Sunset Stampede, the free show in the “Mystic Falls” atrium of Sam’s Town’s hotel....

The second the wolf’s gleaming red eyes light up, I guarantee at least one kid is going to start shrieking in terror, and he probably won’t stop until long after the show’s over.  It only adds to the atmosphere, trust me.  Amid the shooting lasers and spouting waters, a bunch of animatronic animals roar, growl, and howl to their heart’s content.  Everyone gets in on the act, even the bear.  It’s hard to do it justice, but it’s something you’ve just got to see.  Time it right and you can catch a movie at the casino’s multiplex while you’re there.
